The benefits of eating organic food

The benefits to eating organic food, it is much better for health, wellbeing and the environment.
Organic produce don’t contain harmful chemicals such as pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics and other medications, growth hormones, that live stock are fed – then you eat! And also GMO foods.
Organic food is grown or raised in more natural ways
It is more nutritious because it contains more nutrients than conventional grown/raised foods
Fruits & veggies that contain the highest levels of pesticides
- Apples
- sweet bell peppers
- cucumbers
- potatoes
- grapes
- cherry tomatoes
- kale
- spinach
- strawberries
- peaches
These are best bought organic
Fruits & veggies that are lower in levels of pesticides
- asparagus
- mushrooms
- onion
- avocado
- sweet corn
- kiwi
- pineapple
- papaya
- sweet potatoes
- cabbage
- sweet peas
- grapefruit
No need to buy organic
Buy organic meat, eggs and dairy
Why? because organic contains less antibiotics, medications, growth hormones ( which can unbalance our hormones when eaten ) and so the animals raised better – more healthier. The animals are taken better care of. I personally won’t eat any meat if it isn’t organic
Benefits of organic food
- Better for overall health
- good antioxidant content
- less pesticides
- higher in nutrients
- fresher produce
- better for heart health
- tastes better
- strengthens immune system
- environmentally friendly
- high quality
Organic produce is a bit more expensive to buy but I think it is well worth it because you can’t put a price on your health or the environment. Sometimes local farmers markets sell their produce at discount.
Why not start growing your own veggies? If you don’t have a big enough garden, you could get an allotment! Now wouldn’t that be a great new hobby! Grow your own!
