The power of music
I love the healing power of music, it can lift your mood, help you to feel what’s deeply hidden, calms chaos, brings peace, gets you moving your body, opens your heart and brings you to life, makes you feel strong, remembering who you are, brings you to balance and can soothe your soul.
How things have changed from the past yet the music still has the same power
So as I’m sat here about put some more tunes on my mp4 player…a smile on my face as I remember how I used to record my favourite tunes back in the day, when I was a kid/teen.
I had a tape recorder to begin with, that had a microphone. Every Thursday evening when Top of the pops was on, I’d sit waiting patiently for my favorite songs to come on – whilst holding the Mic to the TV. Then press record-then pause when it finished – patiently waiting for the next song. What joy!
Then later on I’d be lying on my bed and press play…all excited to listen to my favorite tunes, and the creaky door sound.. and followed by a Ssssshhhh…then a voice shouting , shut up ( usually mine ) Then another creaky door sound.
Oh the frustration of hardly hearing any of the actual song..aaarrrgh.
Bloody funny to think about it now though ha.
Then when I was about 13-14 I got a better tape player for Christmas, it was great. I loved it, it had a double tape so you could record from one tape to another and I could record straight from the radio which I did. But again I’d sit listening to the radio, patiently waiting for a song to come on that I liked…hit that record button Then pause Then record Oh those were the days.
Now if some one told me then that in about 20-30 years I’d, be sat with my own laptop….errrrrr what’s a laptop? And be able to put music from it, onto a little black box thingy…called an mp4 player, that can hold hundreds and hundreds of songs. – of your own choice, I would of looked at this person stupid. You what!
Oh how things change eh!
The power of music can take you back to childhood
Isn’t it funny though how music can take you right back to childhood and get you reminiscing about the old(er) days.
Anyways I love music especially rock but I do love alsorts of different music, depending on how I feel at the time.
Music can change your mood too: If your in a bad mood..put you fave music on, it’ll cheer you up.
If your feeling sad, put some upbeat on and before you know it, you’ll be feeling loads better.
Music has the power to change your mood
When your emotions feel stuck and you need help to clear them, put some music on, especially soppy ( works for me every time ) your tears will flow and you’ll feel better.
If you have trouble meditating like I do ( mind chatter won’t shut up) then put some music on – can’t hear the mind chatter then and I find I can connect better to my inner-self.
Music has a way of taking you away from all the daily life stressors for a while, take some time out.
If you are feeling stuck or stagnant – put ya favorite tunes on loud and dance, doesn’t matter whether you dance well or not, just dance.
Dancing is a wonderful way to exercise and keep fit
If you enjoy a good sing – sing your heart out, again doesn’t matter if you good or not, just sing.
If you like playing a musical instrument or would like to learn – go for it.
You’ll feel happier, lighter and more positive.
Now how powerful is that!

Id love to hear your views..does music help you, if so how? Comment below.

Haha I remember taping off the radio too. Also my first single I bought was tight fit “lion sleeps tonight” from woolies! Loved stacking up the records on the player but I also do appreciate the clarity you get from today’s technology too!
Oooh one of my first favourite songs too…you got me singing that now ha🤣Oh good old Woolies great place that. Yes I love the fact that I don’t have to do the recording myself anymore🤣
