The benefits of creativity and why its so important

The benefits of creativity are vast!
Creativity is the use of imagination and original ideas to create something
Children love to create and not just because its messy but it gives an opportunity to try out new things/ideas and problem solving. Children are very curious naturally. Creativity encourages self-expression, which celebrates a childs uniqueness. So no wonder we encourage more creativity in children.
But no matter how old (er) you are, creativity is a form of self-expression – of feelings/emotions and experiences.
Don’t ever censor your creativity, let yourself be free to create and express yourself.
Everyone is creative! not just a selected few. We all have the ability to create, to need to express because we all have feelings/emotions and experiences.
We are all different and unique so we create and express differently. Be curious and try new things but importantly do what you enjoy.

The benefits of creativity
Freedom: There is no right or wrong way to be creative, so don’t judge yourself. Let down your inhibitions and get creating! Creativity does’nt have to be perfect, just beautiful.
Builds confidence: in our instincts, we can learn to trust our own instincts and gain confidence from our self-expression.
Stress relief: creativity is fun especially if its something we really enjoy. Its meditative.
Self awareness and self-expression: creativity is a route to authenticity. While we are creating we begin to access our thoughts, feelings and beliefs. To understand, trust, respect our inner-selves better.
Problem solving: Obstacles and challenges are a part of life – we all have them and there is no manual. Being creative regularly helps us to learn ways of solving problems. Okay so it can’t solve all of life’s problems but it helps to figure some of the more day to day problems.
Being creative stops you over thinking your problems so you can find a solution
Happiness/joy and fulfillment: By allowing yourself to create, your in the flow which makes you feel more content and at peace. You feel a sense of achievement when you are creating something beautiful, which helps you feel happier.
I don’t think its a waste of time or energy now as I used to think. I’ve realised that it’s important for my well-being and that until you try it, you haven’t an idea of what you’ll enjoy or how beneficial it really is.
I started crafting with flowers and nature and find it so therapeutic. I now have a shop on Etsy selling my creations. It just happened, it wasn’t planned so it actually took me by surprise at how much I enjoy it and then to create my own gift shop. Very happy.
