How to grow Chamomile and it’s health benefits

Chamomile is a daisy-like flower that’s very pretty and has a lovely scent and lots of health benefits.
It can be used as a herbal tea, in cooking and also makes a wonderful essential oil.
Growing
Sowing seeds: from springtime, place the seeds onto the surface of the pots and cover lightly with a thin layer of compost. Place indoors ( windowsill ) or into a greenhouse ( somewhere warm ) to germinate. When the plants are big enough to handle, pick out and repot to larger individual pots.
Plant seedlings or bought plants into light, well drained soil in a sunny spot.
You can also grow a Chamomile lawn too
– space the plants 4ins apart.
Water regularly , especially the ones in pots during summer.
Harvesting
Harvest when the flowers are open throughout summer.
The flowers can be used fresh or you can dry them for later use.
To dry them – cut the flowers and spread them out on a tray and place some where warm and dry, it takes a week or two. Once dried, store in an air tight container or jar and keep in a dark cool cupboard.
