What happened on our bike ride

So last weekend we decided to go on a bike ride on the outskirts of York, along the cycle tracks. There is such beautiful scenery, all around the outskirts – countryside. I love it. I don’t get out often because of health issues but I absolutely love bike riding! And not just for the exercise, which is a big bonus but it makes me feel young and free. It reminds me of childhood happiness
It all started out well with no problems, the sun was shinning and there was a lovely cool breeze, I was in my element – until…
So the day before, my husband said…you REALLY need a new bike, lets go look at some, so we did. Me being me said…nope I don’t need a new bike, mine is fine I love my bike. There is nothing wrong with my bike. He said okay then ( with a look of ) but don’t say I didn’t warn you haha. He tried again and again to change my mind and buy a new bike but I am stubborn and can’t see why I need to buy a new one when mine is fine. I feel it’s a waste.
Back to our ride
So back to the next day: Me, my hubby and daughter are out bike riding – clunk click..
I swap bikes with my daughter then…
What is that noise? Oh the gears keep changing by themselves, clunk click again, then again – keeps getting worse, then the chain falls off.
My husband sorts it out, see told you your bike is old and broken you NEED a new bike.
We carry on, clunk click, still not right. I’m on my daughters bike and OH! Okay so this is great, no clunk clicks, no struggling to ride.
There I was thinking it was me, my age or lack of fitness – It’s the bike!

My daughter: no wonder you were struggling, it’s really hard to ride your bike, it really is ready for the tip haha
Husband gives me that look again – see told you so
Turns out the front brake was sticking, the chain is broken and the gears don’t work properly – but I still love my bike!
We carry on with laughter and the weather was lovely plus the scenery was beautiful – just my old knackered bike ha
After riding my daughters bike which was so much easier, better and much more enjoyable, I decide yes okay time for a new bike.
I ended up riding my daughters bike, my daughter is now on my husbands bike and he is on my bike for the rest of the way haha
We got back and went straight bike shopping *smiley face

Even though the whole bike business was a total disaster, we still enjoyed the day and had plenty of laughs along the way
I hope you have enjoyed my post. Do you like bike riding?
